Gnope demonstrates the power of Open Source once more
I really considered the release of Gnope a pure hobby project, because I needed an easy way to create user interfaces for some tasks, which relate to tradebit, I needed for our co-workers and I needed it on Windows.
I am not really good at coding with Visual Basic or other GUI oriented languages, and for a text converting tool, I needed no fancy interface. Basically 2 buttons and a file selection dialog.
PHP and me was love on first sight anyways, so I looked around, if I could create tools with that language (which is defintely NOT designed for client tasks). Nevertheless the tools were coded in less than a day and fill a gap for me at least.
Interesting is, that gnope had a very nice reception by the Open Source community on gtk.php.net and received over 6,000 downloads within 4 weeks now: gnope website…
