Closing in on 2 Million US$
I wrote about it last year in a short note about the problems of Micropayments. Now we have updated our homepage, with a live counter of our revenue that we push over PayPal. In the past year, we cracked the 1.5 Million mark in digital distributed goods (with direct sales alone, ebay sales are not counted). It looks like we will hit the 2M approximately during the next 10 days and I think we will need to celebrate that with a little suprise for the lucky guy (girl?), who will be the person spending the 2-millionth (is that an english word?) dollar on tradebit.
The interesting part of that figure is, that we had also 1M downloads PER day right before christmas of all kind of files (MySpace is a traffic thief :-). The backend structure of tradebit is constantly under heavy load and we have learnt a lot of things about MySQL and Linux in large scale environments in the past year.
While everything explods around us, we will try to keep everything running and will add 1 more cluster node with 4 processors and 4 Terabytes storage next week. Have a nice weekend!
