Roll-out at the Paypal developer conf
Our payment provider Paypal will hold a developer conference next week in San Francisco and because Martin flies over to be there, we decided to invest some more time in the new products after we messed up the database yesterday. We have to become a bit better with that and perfection needs practice. So the official roll-out for our new music section will go live next week - either at the 4th or 5th of November.
While Google announced its new music service this week, we thought it would be nice of us to provide you with all the commercial music on the planet, not just those of partners ;-). For that we do team up with a new partner, but that is for completion and not the only source for next weeks update.
The official roll-out of the files will start as soon as we are finished with the tests. After we crashed the whole platform yesterday we think we need to be a bit more careful with the Terabytes :-/
The amount of data behind that is quite crazy. We are shifting to a full quality of 320kbps encoding with these songs and will give you access to around 3.7 Mio. additional files.
Many of you know, that we are a small team and it takes some time for us to complete the task - so I am back to preparations and database optimization now and hope to meet some of you in the next weeks in person when the stuff is live!
