Increasing conversions on your website
Yesterday I was thinking about our conversion on tradebit and where to place what, to convince more people, that we are really cool and that they need to sign up quickly
Well, I took a look at 4 major internet sites to analyze their approach and where the put their money making links:
Here are some thoughts about them:

For google I was just searching something and looked at the result page, to find out, where they are placeing their ads and how big…
I looked at all sites with a browser set to 800 pixels wide and all 4 stay in that width. For Microsoft I saw that they have a simliar approach to Apple in placing a new product (or something they want to promote) in the middle of the page.
Ebay, which has to offer all kinds of products, places the links like Amazon: all over the place. But their “center” of the page, if you look for the graphics, is roughly at the same place: the upper third in the middle of the browser window.
Google has the same hotspot for their horizontal advertising: upper third, centered… that is the hotspot of them (top, big internet sites) all. The only difference, and that is what Google is famous for, the search giant has almost no graphics on the page. Google seems to live from their minimalistic approach on information transfer.
We will try some tests here, and will update you if we find out, what is converting better.
