Summer has started, the heat is up!
While the overall usage of the Web is going to jump into the summer hole, the temperatur in Germany finally reached cozy heights - right on time for the world cup. Right now, we are coding away for the new offers, that should start around mid-July, a good time to test drive new sites, because load and traffic will stay moderate until the end of August.
We have seen this phenomenon serveral years now and even if these lower figures are not true for all sites, most of the Internet offers take the slow lane during June, July and August. Fellow webmasters report lower traffic and therefor lower revenue during this time from advertising as well.
But do not get sleepy just yet. The christmas season is won (or lost) in the summer. A good site needs at least 3 if not 6 months to get listed and ranked by the search engines. If you plan to suceed in November, you better get on the keys today. It is hard, no doubt - while others goof thru the lazy days, we will have our big holidays beginning of January! That keeps us going
If you are one of the poor coders, who get the workload today, here is some music to relax while working!

Ralf,
I’ve seen this cycle myself over the years. It used to scare the heck out of me each time, but now I know it is just part of the process. It is a great time to step back and look at where everything is and where you want it to go as well as to get some good coding sessions in without too much customer support hassles! Don’t forget it is a time to throw back some fermented beverages as well.
Cheers.

Hi Shannon, New York must be pretty hot during summer. I have never been there July/August. But the usage of A/C is much much lower in Germany, so I sit in a quite hot office and have all the windows open right now! Coding under these conditions is hard and I really need my german beer at the end of the day once in a while
