How Affiliate Networks work
Once in a while, we get questions from merchants, who consider to start an affiliate program for their sales. With tradebit, there are various possibilities to do so and I want to refresh that topic once more here in the Blog.
For the basic understanding:
Affiliate managements are based on the usage of cookies. Little data snippets, which can be placed on the users computer and which are used to track the way of the user, if a sale happens. That is, how affiliate commissions are assigned. While some people consider cookies as “evil”, I want to clean up that myth:
1. Cookies can be evil, but they are also a good tool to keep sessions alive, identify returning users and make the life of users easier
2. 99% of the Internet crowd has cookies enabled, so it is very likely, that your sale is tracked right
Furthermore, some affiliate networks do NOT use cookies, but tracking code only in their URLs.
Most common affiliates for download sales are www.clickbank.com and www.paydotcom.com, which integrate nicely with their payment options. Tradebit does support both!
We do also have our own tracking on tradebit.com in place, in case you want to manage resellers and do not want to sign up elsewhere. Both is possible.
So, if you want to increase your reach into the net, you might want to consider to start an affiliate program and share some of your income with people who bring you good traffic!
