Conversion rates under close watch
After we pushed out the new layout we started to monitor the conversion rates of certain pages again. Conversion rate is the ratio of “unique vists” to the final “sales” of a page. We have put some budget into Google Adwords to push constant traffic to
- the new Charts
- certain software titles
- the affiliate program
and monitor the activity on these pages. After 3 days I am not too happy and that needs more work. Especially the music charts drive EXTREME TRAFFIC but have low conversions. I think one of the reasons is the lack of preview files of some albums our merchants have put up. I doubt that songs without a preview really sell.
Next week we will try some tweaks in placements and colors of the payment buttons and will create some preview files of songs that do not have one.
A bit better is the German advertising running for specific software packages like the brain trainer package we put online. But there is more work needed as well. Right now we run the ads with a significant loss and maybe I need to talk to some of our conversion specialist friends from the industry to improve the situation!
