Talking links, keywords and user orientation

Currently I am in Vienna, visiting 2 SEO friends and taking a short break from development.

We will roll out the results of our work next week and I consider this little trip the preparation for the roll-out stress that we will face starting on Monday.

So hanging out with fellow webmasters brought up some interesting discussions yesterday. The topic was: what is more important - link, keywords or user orientation for high conversion rates and the result was: all of it!

If you have no keywords in your product description, your products will not show up when people look for them on the search engines. If you do not have links to your products, the search engines will not rank them high enough to attract users and once you have traffic on the pages - the users must understand what you have to offer.

So, the most important thing for a successful webmaster is to understand the whole process of SEO:

  • get the right keywords
  • create search engine friendly pages
  • get a lot of links
  • present your information to the users so they understand what you want

Nothing new so far? Well… I think still not implemented on most sites as it could be!
