If internet years are like dog years, means 1 internet year is 7 felt years, the search engine Google turned 49 today. Well, quite over the peak of the best years a human could have in terms of career, reproduction, etc. But for google the good times just started. The dog theory can not be applied to the search engine, as it seems:

Webhits.de accounted 82% of all search engine traffic in Germany to big G. The figures for the states differ between 50 and 70% market share, depending on the source.

So, quite big indeed for such a young fellow, roaring up in revenue and profit. Their lab is full of new search applications and the future seems wide open. The webmaster community is awaiting a new index update within the next few weeks, which should indicate the actual status of Google in the fight against Index-SPAM and will determ how the online sales will go until christmas.

So, happy birthday, Google! Hope the party lasts!
