The future of the web

I have written about the horrible Web2.0 buzzword and agreed with fellow bloggers like pau, that there is too much buzz around the future of the net.

Let’s take a look at the tools, that we are REALLY using right now: eMail, browser and one additional favourite (like skype, ftp, ssh, a RSS reader or whatever you are up to)!

These tools (or the ideas) are old now - old in terms of internet years. IMHO it is time for new open standard in information presentation and when someone comes up (and someone will!) with a new, publicly available information presentation tool like the browser then we will have Web2.0 really.

So far I can not see anything innovative in mutations of HTML, XML, JavaScript combinations, which are called “web sites”.

Let’s call the new tool “nirapa“: new information retrieval and presentation application.

All the infos and all the technology is out there for it and from my point of view it is only a matter of time, when someone like Vinton Cerf will come up with a free, open, easy and new technology built on the idea of distributed networks and data.

If you have not already, you should get an abo of the wired, you could be the inspired to be the next REAL buzz!

You might also see, what Patrick wrote in his blog about starting to innovate at a point where others already are - like go there and pick up new ideas from the top!
