Linux Tag (=Day) in Wiesbaden
Today I went over to Wiesbaden, to take a walk thru the Linux congress held in the congress center in the city. There were around 60 companies and groups presenting their stuff and I got a nice Google pen - I love marketing :).
To keep up to date with the latest storage possiblities and the compatible hardware, I talked over 30 minutes to some nice folks from the Fedora project, the Open Source flavour of Red Hat. One of the guys showed me, how the global file system works and how to configure a farm on a GFS cluster.
With the right hardware, that really makes a scalable solution for serveral Terabytes. As an example I visited the booth of Transtec, a larger European hardware vendor, offering nice boxes with 7 Terabytes to attach to Linux webservers via Fibre Channel.
