Deutsche Telekom and high speed Internet TV in Germany
With the new VDSL standard in Germany, the Deutsche Telekom giant tries to establish new services in ca. 8 big cities over here. The killer application ought to be television. Well, how is TiVo doing in the states? Not a really movement in that market right now!
However, I have upgraded to 16 MBit downstream at home and watch my first bought
full feature movie over the internet from another seller about 2 weeks ago. The player stopped around 5 times, because the line quality changed and my router disconnected (shortly). At home not a real problem, as long as you do not watch TV over IP.
Again are the geeks the playground for half finished technology and the early adopters have at least 3 upgrades ahead to get solid IP-TV!
Right now I would prefer to have a few pay channels in DVB quality streamed and I can activate my film on demand on scheduled times and NOT loose connection right before you know, if the butler is the killer or not!
Nevertheless: I will join the 25MBit DSL customer crowd as soon as it is available, but not to watch TV!
