Growing the database cluster and more
Hi everybody and welcome to my first posting in May! I have been quite ill with a bad cold and fever the last week and was unable to do more than a few cosmetic changes on the platform. Thanks for all the nice emails and the wishes - it helped :)
Now I am back on track and Robert (our new coder) and I will implement some improvements again.
First of all: I have ordered another Linux server to make the database faster - It runs with 24 Gigabytes of RAM and a RAID 10 subsystem for maximum throughput. I have to integrate that new server the coming week. Another webserver will take over all the image serving next week, too and we hope to gain more speed by offering you more servers
The recurring problems of broken downloads with large files is not really our fault, it seems to be a problem with the providers. We also work on a solution with that. A generic download manager could help, but we are still investigating.
Some new merchants have signed up, who I want to welcome once more. A few others were gone, but left good feedback to improve the member area more. In large parts, tradebit seems to be especially good for the powerseller, less for the casual uploader. We are aware of that and will implement some very nice things during the next 2 months.
