Business model changes
··· Rates will change / No more file hosting ···
By the first of April 2008 we have to change our marketplace rates. We will make this transition
as smooth as possible for all of us, but there are some things to mention and to explain.
The reasons for this fundamental change are listed here:
Pricing changes
Here is the list with the most urgent questions and answers. This change is not easy
for us, but necessary for tradebit to survive and grow.
So please be patient with us while we try to explain:
- Obsolete packages:
All hosting packages with a flat rate (like the 6.95$/month, etc.) will
be transformed into a publisher package. That means all payments go
into OUR accounts and you will be paid to your paypal email
twice a month - that is for all products sold via OUR sites, like tradebit.com itself
or the additional vertical sites (like www.photania.com). Your subscriptions will
be cancelled automatically on the 31st of March. Products you already have placed with your own paypal email will
continue to work, so you do not have to change that!We will ask for a 25% revenue share on all sales generated by us. Top sellers
do have the possiblity to get lower rates with monthly revenues above 500 US$.
We will try to “value” the content you provide.Files you put up for plain file hosting can stay where they are until the 1st of May.
New uploads without a price are disabled. Previews, pictures and thumbnails may be added
for free as usual.Plain file hosting accounts (accounts without products on sale) will be removed on the 1st of May.
We recommend sites like http://www.uploadchoice.com/
for plain file hosting.Picture, movie or music requests with referers from forums or other sites will be
redirected. We have a huge amount of traffic from non-commercial sites, abusing your pictures
or our traffic volume.
What do you get for that?
- More and improved functionality:
The “member area” will provide what you already know and will be improved further with
additional features to justify the higher prices. - Google checkout:
Your customers will be able to pay without a paypal account. - Storage:
There will be no more storage limitations. - More outlets:
Your downloads will be promoted on more domains, social networks and forums! - Affiliate system:
We will improve the affiliate system to motivate resellers for you. - No more competing ads:
For all products with a price, the google ads on the detail page will be removed.
We will make sure, that no competing products will be visible on your pages. - We will support your customers:
We will establish improved support structures to mail your customers,
if they have download problems and remove some burden from you.
Please email us if you have any questions or suggestions. We feel it is better to
annouce that upfront even if all steps and implications are not fully planned yet!
If you need to replace your pictures or files located on tradebit.com you should
have now more than 8 weeks to do so.
We are quite sure that this transition will cause some pain around the beginning of April and
we are very sorry for that. But frankly: to keep tradebit running and make it a better
marketplace we have to follow that road.

Hi,
We have a website http://www.9inchremix.com that uses tradebit for download purchases. The information about the new changes are a little unclear as to how it will effect our business. All of the sales are done completely through our website and are private sales. We have no listed files for sale on tradebit.com shops. So does this mean we are not effected?
Also, we are running out of space quite quickly so want to know if we can double our space limit? we are happy to pay double the price that we are already paying.
Please advice us soon so we can make the necessary changes before April if we are effected.
Kind Regards,
Suranga Perera,
9 Inch Remix
Chief Exec.

suranga, if you move your files to “public”, means that we are able to sell them on tradebit, too. Not much will change for you then. You can continue to sell all the files you already have on tradebit like before and for the new ones you will get a payout as discussed. Because your revenue is quite high, you get better rates. Also your space problem is solved! mail me directly to puzzler(at)tradebit.com to discuss the details!

Hello..I understand the new procedures I think…. It’s cool with me but to add a thumbnail or photo for a file we are selling we have to go to another host for that? this part is confusing…

no, you can still add photos and preview files for free on tradebit!
