Again a big storm closing in to the gulf coast. While we think that the evacuation of New Orleans seems to have worked quite well (at least what you can see on the news) and people are safe, we have also watched the storms direction and if it might hit Houston, where all our servers are. 3 years ago, our hoster ThePlanet went through a category 3 hurricane and no major downtime happened. Besides the devastating impact on the real life – such storms may also affect the Internet community with power losses and infrastructure damages. Not this time, as it seems! Some local electricity companies have started to do a twitter like status update of their power distribution.
