Creating a simple network layout for free
We are slowly moving our offices in Germany to Frankfurt and I am sitting here in the almost empty room and enjoy a brand new 16MBit cable connection to the net. Very nice.
While planning our internal network setup, I needed to scribble some network layout because we share the office with another company. So, before using powerpoint for that, I looked around if there are simple layout tools for creating such network diagrams…
I found and used:

yED, a nice tool you can fire up from the browser, because it is entirely written in Java. If you have your JVM setup right, you start that editor from your browser to paint your network layout right away. For small, quick and dirty jobs, this is a nice free tool.
