At home I work with Ubuntu
For years I considered Linux a great Operating System for Internet or workgroup servers. Easy to manage and easy to handle for storage, printing or routing purposes. My first Linux installation was SuSE 4.something in the 90s and the company was sold to Novell earlier this decade. I never wanted to use Linux as a Desktop OS, because I thought that most of our customers use Windows and I need to see, what they see.
Last week I wanted to try out the new Ubuntu release, because I had bought a new fast PC for my home office. Even if some geeks have issues with the new release, I instantly liked what I saw:
The desktop has many neat features, is blazingly fast on my quad core with 4 Gigs RAM and a decent graphics adapter. The best is, that I can still work on the Microsoft Office suite if I need to by putting my laptop next to it and mash them up with Synergy.
