Automated video conversion
Folks, we had a conversion problem on the new servers and videos uploaded yesterday did not convert right if they were created using the h264 compression mode. Currently we are in the process of updating FFMPEG, which we use to convert video uploads into flash previews. That should work by tonight.
With a continuous distribution of new codecs, we have just not installed the right ffmpeg version on the servers.
For those of you who are interested in video conversion and compression tools: we use the open source tool ffmpeg, which can take almost any video source and create a flash format (.flv) version out of it. Basically the same process you find on youtube and other video hosting platforms.
