RealBasic: More than 2500 client installations

About 5 weeks ago I published a little tool that I call "Tradebit Download Client" for Windows and Mac. It gives you a very simple way to search, buy and download all files we offer on tradebit.com...

I wrote this tool in RealBasic over the course of 2 weekends after I learned my way in that programming language. The RealBasic development environment is quite cool, cheap and for programmers easy to learn.

What I like the most is the cross-platform development functionality. Means you write your code on Windows and create the Mac version out of the same code. It has some obstacles and the layout could get messed up - but writing a working client within 4 full days is pretty fast. Not that I am a good coder, the programming language makes it that fast, especially for small tools.

Now I looked into the webserver logs and see that out of these 2,500 installations are a lot of people using the client to download their purchases - pretty neat!

Yesterday I also got feedback from James, who developed the iPhone client. There are more than 50 active installations of the iPhone App out - also not too bad for a 2 week old program.

We will continue to improve these releases in the next few months.

A good weekend to all of you!
