Carol Williams is the sax player with actor Gary Sinise's classic-rock group Lieutenant Dan Band, which has performed worldwide since early 2004. With tours to Asia, Europe, and many cities in the US, they have also played extensively as USO performers at military bases, as well as for fundraisers for causes such as the Viet Nam Veterans Art Museum, Garyâs âOperation Iraqi Childrenâ and the Steppenwolf Theater.
Originally from Chicago, Carol Williams grew up in the Midwest, played keyboards, flute, and sang in rock/top-40 bands before moving to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. After traveling with show bands on the East Coast, she spent seven years the US Army band program as a sax player, during which she also played locally in Chicago with original-music jazz/fusion bands.
One of those groups, Kimotion, is the big-band creation

on the music scene in Chicago. Carolsâ tenor sax can be heard on two of his CDs, War Stories and Tracking.
With a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts
in 1987 to do performances and recordings, she began her direction as a singer-songwriter. She has two albums of solo material (Carol Williams and Small-Town Girl), and recently completed a third (Jesus on a Chain), recorded with Danny Gottlieb (drummer with Pat Metheny).
