Details:
Lisa began playing piano and violin at age 5, coached by her grandmother a piano player and her father a violin player. Her grandmother played piano at Carnegie hall at age 12 but was instructed to give up her piano due to rhematism until her husband bought her another at age 20. Lisa played music most of her childhood but stopped when she began studying chemistry at UCLA and UCSC. To fill the void, she left school with an MS, and went to New Orleans to study guitar and sax privately with Steve Goodson while supporting herself as a waitress. Lisa began writing songs that would become her first four track album. After returning to Santa Cruz after a brief stint as a cook on a fishing boat out of Seattle, and camping/hitchhiking the Pacific Northwest she taught herself the Yamaha fourtrack and recorded bass and guitar songs for a year before meeting Andy Zenczak and Mark Quinn after hearing them down the street playing in a wherehouse. In the Winter of 2000 with the means from a good job she hired them as studio musicians to record a five song demo with a full band sound(see ode to Richard) with Lisa on guitar and tube driven Echoplex, Mark Drums, Andy Bass. This demo awarded her a scholarship to the Berklee school of Music LA summer session where she learned alternate chord forms and the fretboard. Lisa began playing locally in Los Angeles with Bill and Wes and gigged acoustically at Canters Kibutz room, the Opium Den, and the joint, until the project disbanded after Wes disappeared in his '73 Ford Van (we think he's in Idylwild). Lisa accepted an offer for a temporary job in Chicago and stayed after becoming ecstatic with the music scene, it's approachabilty and ease to get gigs compared to LA. In 2005, she finished a collection of songs entitled Give, with Chris Bronowski, Todd Goodman, and Kurt Forney, and Mastered by Jason McNitch of legendary "Pigface" fame, that Lisa and Chris did at their loft on the Fostex digi 8, so please enjoy and stay tuned for updates here or at Elifish.com , The cd is available at cd baby and to hear on My Space.
