Details:
Humid basement air and mildew-covered walls birthed many of the worldâs great bands, and Leaving Shiloh comes from a similar background. Their sound has evolved as much as the space they rehearse in has, and it is constantly improving. With the moldy basement turning into a homemade studio and their elementary cover songs turning into raw, moving original compositions, Leaving Shiloh has turned the page from adolescent garage band to adult eclectic rockers.

The three founding members '" Matt Godfrey (guitars, keys, vocals), Michael Johnson (bass), and Jason McMillan (drums) '" have combined musical genres many thought could not be combined. Matt comes from a classic rock and blues background, heavily influenced by the likes of Styx and Eric Clapton. Michael feeds off of Metallica and Tool, bringing a harder edge to the band. Jason plays jazz and reggae drums, giving the band a very sturdy and unique backbone. In May of 2004, they joined in the studio with engineer Kevin Derryberry to record their first album, Road Somewhere. Since then over a thousand demo and full length CDs have gone out into the public, creating fans of Leaving Shiloh from their hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, all the way to Ontario, Canada.

With all this pent up music, Leaving Shiloh does not just sit at home and rehearse. They get their energy from being on the stage entertaining, and that is exactly what they are doing. With close to 50 shows in the summer of 2005 and an offer for an 80 city North American tour from The Extreme Tour, audiences all over are getting a chance to hear a new, hard-working rock band. Leaving Shiloh is playing everything from downtown clubs, theatres, coffee shops, and bars to charity events sponsored by organizations like the Kingâs Ranch and the Salvation Army.

In the future, Leaving Shiloh will continue to add dates to their tour schedule and fans to their fan base, and in July, they will be filming a music video at Workplay Theatre in Birmingham with the Indie Community. Here the devoted fans that have been with the band from the beginning will have a chance to see the newest version of one of their favorite bands. Whether it is the Biblical allusion in the bandâs name or the diversity of their music that keeps fans listening, it is certain that there is only one Leaving Shiloh.
