Band Biography
---------------------------------------------------------
Forwardhead is a three-piece modern rock band from Baltimore, Maryland. Their music is comprised of thick textures, strong, heavy grooves, technical instrumental work and memorable melodic hooks. The band members are Ron Turner (guitar and lead vocals), Craig Tambascio (bass guitar and backing vocals) and Scott Tambascio (drums / percussion and samples). Their original sound and energetic stage show has been attracting an enthusiastic audience. Forwardhead songs "Elevate", "Still Numb", "14³" and "Through You" receive airplay on commercial radio stations 98 Rock (WIYY), DC101 (WWDC) and 96 Rock (WOSC).
Forwardhead released their first full length CD, "Elevate", in June, 2001. Following the release of Elevate, Forwardhead has been promoting the CD by performing in clubs throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Elevate has sold 1000 units as of May 2002.

Forwardhead was formed in March of 2000. After the split of his band "Fate Made Flesh", Ron responded to an advertisement in the paper and met Scott and Craig. Both Scott and Craig had been in successful groups that have also disbanded. Scott came from the group "Tone Bias" who just released an independent CD and Craig had played with one of Maryland's top bands "Edens Poets" boasting 3 CD's and close to 10,000 CD sales. Says lead vocalist/guitarist Ron Turner, "We all came together from the same situation. After putting years of work into a group and attaining a bit of success someone decided to leave the band and we all had to start over. But it has made us more focused on what we need to do as a band. We know what we want and we know what it takes to get there. All of us are more committed than ever."

Forwardhead is not only committed to their music but also to their craft. Both Ron Turner and Craig Tambascio have bachelor degrees in music and are well versed in music composition, production and recording. Along with their experience performing rock music, they also have a wide range of stylistic expertise in jazz, blues, classical, funk, dance/techno, and computer-based music. "I think that when you understand different types of music it opens your eyes to other possibilities. It enables you to be more creative and come up with more interesting music." says Craig Tambascio.

Their music is technical but more importantly emotional. Scott Tambascio describes Forwardhead's music as "expressive and moody but with a strong groove." Forwardhead is a typical three-piece group in terms of instrumentation: bass, guitar, and drums. But the added element of loops, sounds and samples takes the sound a bit further. "We wanted to add more parts to our music and be able to pull it off live. Using samplers and drum triggers enable us to do that." says Scott. Forwardhead's live sound is very tight, musically creating a variety of textures using loops, samples, melodic prowess, vocal harmonies, and expert musicianship.

Forwardhead is attracting the attention of people in the industry as well. 98 Rock DJ Matt Davis plays Forwardhead's music regularly on his radio show "Noise in the Basement". Skip Dixxon of 96 Rock spins "Elevate" and "Still Numb" weekly by request. Mark Bounds of Music Monthly Magazine said: "Forwardhead should keep their course full-steam ahead towards major label possibilities" and Adam Wheatly of Funkstarr Entertainment / Chesapeake Music Guide said: "These guys are very talented". Forwardhead is currently promoting the Elevate CD and performing in concert throughout the region. The band is continually writing and recording new music for future release.
