Original press release: Forgotten Sister, a three piece rock band based in the San Francisco Bay Area, consists of singer-songwriter James Brown on guitar, Denis Regan, longtime friend and musical associate of 22 years on bass, with Lennard Thompson on drums. The music of Forgotten Sister demonstrates a serious commitment of Brownâs talents as a songwriter and musician. Forgotten Sisterâs sound combines driving rhythms and straight forward melodies with purposeful lyrical content.
Forgotten Sister has just released their second recording of original material for Hippo Music Co. (now Riverhorse Music Co.) on a compact disk entitled âForgotten Sister". The release is a milestone on the path of Brown's growth as an artist.

The development of Brownâs style can be traced from the lyrical based folk tradition to the expressive liberation of the punk movement His lyrics probe the depths of his personal experienceâoften dark, but always honest, delivered from the heart with powerful, seasoned vocals. Brownâs guitar work creates rhythmical soundscapes. His soulful progressions and lyrics combine with the solid rhythm section of Thompson and Regan to create a familiar, yet unique experience.

Brown resides in Lithuania, a former Soviet republic, and the San Francisco Bay Area. In Lithuania Brown is a well-known musician performing rock, blues, and the music of Forgotten Sister with some of the countryâs popular musicians. As the only American in the recently liberated republic, Brown has served as mentor, translator, and consultant of sorts to several musicians in the capitol Vilnius. Brown has been featured on television, radio, and several newspaper articles. He has performed in almost every major club in the country.

On bass, Reganâs interpretation of Brownâs songwriting is testimony to their longtime partnership. The rhythmic content of the songs are well connected to the melodic and lyrical purpose of each composition. Reganâs multi-instrumental talents and variety of performing experience, notably with the world beat band, Civil Rhythm, and the New Orleans influenced Uptown Rulers; further add to the musical resources of Forgotten Sister. Reganâs guitar work can be heard on the tracks âAny Other Foolâ,â Double Life", and âThe Hard Lineâ.

Lennard Thompsonâs 25 plus years of experience, including appearances with Santana, Tower of Power, Mark Russo, and members of Journey and Jefferson Starship, are revealed in his steady and inspired drumming. He firmly anchors the trio with clock-like precision. 12/01/96
