Details:
Fallback Project is a trio of musicians tracing its roots to college revelry at the University of Missouri, where all three members were fraternity brothers. Though friends in college, they didnât get together to play music until post-graduation, at a New Yearâs Eve party at Ryan âSlaterâ Wymoreâs house. He had been working for several years on trying to get Ryan Poage to bring his drums to Kansas City. Finally, after an offer to drive him several hours to his parentsâ house and a place to house his drums, the two began playing music together. At this point, the group was loud and rawâplaying mostly for their own enjoyment and stress reliefâworking on cover songs and some songs that Slater had written in the past. With Poage on drums, and Slater on guitar and vocals by default (though he never intended to be the lead singer), jam sessions started in the early evening, and continued until they were too drunk to play.
In the summer of 2005, Chris Brackman began to play with the group, and the trio was finally together. Brackmanâs bass guitar really filled out the band, and he started helping out with vocals and song writing. With this new contribution of material, a friendly competition began to develop between two musicians on who could crank out the most new songs. All of a sudden, the group had new songs coming in faster than they could learn them. Fallback Project decided to record a demo, which quickly turned into a full length album, available in June 2006.
FBP is currently playing and setting up gigs for anyone who will listen. They combine the best of pop, folk, acoustic, punk, and a little county mixed with intelligent lyrics. All of these parts come together to create a catchy, upbeat sound, that you canât help tapping your foot. The groupâs name is a sarcastic view of the time that has passed from the college years, since the trio is comprised of a dental student, an attorney, and a stockbroker. If they donât make millions on their own, their Fallback Project is to be Rock Stars.
