Fancy Trash's new e.p. "Weighted Down," the second release from the Northampton, MA based indie-roots-rock band, gathers studio versions of seven gems from their live shows over the last few years and adds a few tasty bits - a little slide guitar here, a touch of trombone there, some tambourine - to arrive at something poignant and touching.

Released in March 2006, the collection of songs came about while working on a new full-length, "Three Cheers for the Cheated," which will be released in the Fall of 2006. The seven songs found on "Weighted Down" - from the lead-off "Weighted" through "Fair Weather Friend" - have a spirit and thematic common ground that pulled them together independently from the songs earmarked for Three Cheers.

Fancy Trash tours the Northeast and East Coast extensively and has built a solid reputation based on their charged live shows. They are regulars at venues like The Iron Horse (Northampton, MA), Lakeside Lounge (NYC), The Cave (Chapel Hill, NC), and Toad (Boston, MA).

The band - comprised of Dave Houghton (guitar and vocals), Joshua Thayer (upright bass), and Ben Laine (drums) - has been playing together for 3 ½ years. In that time, Fancy Trash has shared the stage with The New Amsterdams, The Jayhawks, Hackensaw Boys, BR-549, Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, and many more.
