Details:
" ...a sound that sends shivers up peoples' spines."

"Velvet," "bluesy"

... these are some of the adjectives used in the effort to describe Faith Gibson's incomparable voice.

This is the CD to play on those romantic evenings for two by candlelight ... or alone after a hectic day at the office. Relax, sink in, swing along and let yourself be taken away by Faith and the boys in the band: pianist Marcus Schinkel whose excursions range from lyrically romantic to explosively rhythmic, the bluesy, spine-tingling guitar of J.P. Weber and the inimitably cool bass of Ralph Haspel.

In addition to standard jazz tunes like Ellington's "I Ain't Got Nothin' but the Blues" and Fats Waller's "Honeysuckle Rose", the CD contains new takes on pop songs such as "Undun" by the Guess Who, Dave Guard's "Scotch and Soda", Van Morrison's "Moondance" and an homage to Ray Charles with the title song "You Don't Know Me". There are two rarely recorded Harold Arlen numbers, "Don't Like Goodbyes" and an airy version of "Any Place I Hang My Hat is Home" and Gibson's own composition, the humorous yet poignant "Alley Cat Love Song". The album closes with Gibson and Weber on acoustic guitar rendering a hushed, unembellished "'Round Midnight."
