Growing up in Phoenix, I was always passionate about music. I learned to play piano and guitar, and I listened to albums constantly, comparing styles, memorizing lyrics, and working out leads by ear. Sometimes I would crave Zeppelin, Hendrix, or Yes. Sometimes it was James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot or Jackson Browne. But the Beatles always had the most influence on my ideas about music.

I started writing songs in High School, and kept them in my head for years. In 1980, after graduating from Stanford, I began recording these songs on 4-Track cassettes. Overdubbing technology got me past my biggest obstacle; the fact that I neither had a band nor wanted one. Instead, I played and sang everything myself, slowly building up songs one layer at a time.

Over the years, CDs replaced tape. My collection of instruments also improved to include bass and 12-string guitars, banjo, mandolin, baritone sax, and various percussion instruments.

I realeased my first CD, "Greek Horses", in 1997, and the second, "Know the Way", in 2000. The third CD, "Structure", is available now. It contains thirteen new songs, mostly acoustic, that reflect influences from rock to classical to bluegrass.

Like the two previous CDs, "Structure" is entirely self-produced.
