ROCK: Funk Rock, POP: with Live-band Production

Details:
Flavour is a funky pop-rock band hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba. They are a group of three young musicians who combine their differences and passion for music to produce a sound unique to themselves. The band consists of Eric Nicholas (age 23) on lead vocals and harmonica; Charles Mandamin (age 21) on bass and backing vocals; and Derek Allard (age 21) on drums.

Flavour played countless shows throughout Winnipeg and the surrounding area between the years of 2001 and 2004, establishing a large fanbase and wowing audiences in the process. In 2003, the band released its debut album "The Common Good", which was well received by fans and critics alike.

In the early months of 2004, several factors led to the demise of the live Flavour performances; founding guitarist Brett Leier parted ways with the band to pursue a musical education in Toronto, and vocalist Eric Nicholas severely damaged his vocal chords during a live show. This led to a brief hiatus, followed by the re-grouping of Eric, Charles, and Derek to record the band's sophomore album, "Flavour vs. Eric Nicholas."

The new album, which incorporates a diversity of sounds, is a project that consists of songs written by Flavour as well as songs written by Eric Nicholas. The new Flavour songs demonstrate how the band has evolved since their debut in 2003, while Eric Nicholas' solo work is an introduction to a young, fresh songwriter.

The band does not plan on playing live anytime in the near future as Eric's vocal injury has left him with very little vocal stamina. The singer was able to record the album by doing several takes of a song and then resting his voice before pain ensued. The members of Flavour will concentrate on their songwriting in the coming years, and possibly release a third album in the not-too-distant future.

Between the three members of Flavour, influences cover almost all genres of music. Artists that have had an impact on the lives of Eric, Charles, and Derek range from the Beatles to Coldplay; Supertramp to Stevie Wonder; Steely Dan to Rush; and many, many more.
