'52 Pickup

"A band gleefully out of place and time!" Yes, that's what one reviewer had to say about '52 Pickup, a band wranglin' up some music you thought nobody did anymore. We're talkin' about rockabilly, from before they figured they had to have drums for a rockin' sound, and swing and hillbilly were all part of the natural vocabulary.
The members of '52 Pickup are survivors of plenty of previous similar outfits. Brian McGuire, the singer and rhythm guitar player, was featured in the Slim Jims for several years, plus the Lucky 3 Trio, and others. Chris Bosch, playing stand-up bass, is also an alum of Lucky 3 Trio, and Janine Wilson's Shotgun Wedding. Bob Craver, who plays electric lead guitar, spent time with the Reluctant Playboys, and D.T. and the Shakes.
'52 Pickup now has a debut album, Saturday Rich and Sunday Poor, "a must-have for any hillbilly bopper hungerin' for the ultimate high-timin' hoedown sound!" There are five crowd-pleasin' original tunes among the 14 eclectic selections.
'52 Pickup has also been included in CD compilation releases such as the Washington, D.C. area roots sampler Greetings From the District of Country, Run Wild Records' series, Friday Night Rumble Vol. 6., and Hungry for Music's, Holiday Feast Vols. 5 and 7. They have been whoopin' it up at numerous capitol-region clubs, from the 9:30 Club to J.V.'s, plus at events such as the Alexandria and the Falls Church First Night celebrations, Alexandria's Arts On the Avenue festival, summer concerts for Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax City, the National Park Service and others, the Washington Area Music Association's Crosstown Jam event, a party at the French Embassy, and are regulars at Baltimore's famous Night of 100 Elvises! They have also performed live on WAMU in Washington, DC and WRNR out of Annapolis, MD and been featured on internet radio stations Radio Del Ray and 45rpm.com!
'52 Pickup has also provided musical backing for rockabilly legends Billy Lee Riley, Rosie Flores and Vernon Taylor!
