Description:
Crumb are a jangle pop tour de force. They are a cross between early Rem, Teenage Fanclub, The Smiths and The Byrds.
10 MP3 Songs
POP: Power Pop, POP: 80's Pop
Details:
crumb got together in Dublin in 2004 with no great plan in mind except to play back to basics short indie guitar pop tunes. Like most bands we find it hard to describe ourselves, we like to say that we write short sweet melodic jangly pop. We released our debut album 'evenings & weekends' in 2005 and has received rave reviews to-date.
We have known each other for a number of years. Derrick and Eamonn together in a band called Hey Paulette in the late 1980's. They released a few vinyl records independently on their own record label called Mickey Rourke's fridge. They recorded a John Peel session in 1989.
Derrick went on to play bass in Mexican Pets (who have recently reformed) and Eamonn went on to form The Sewing Room with Dez.
Other people have said that 'crumb write well crafted songs, we are a guitar pop tour de force and that we stand head and shoulders over the style of substance bands doing the rounds at the moment' We will let you form your own conclusions and we hope that you like it!
This year we will release a single called 'Like Goodbye' on 7 inch record. It will contain two songs called 'Gregor's Girl' and 'My Last Chance'. We will keep you posted.
In the meantime here are some reviews for our debut album 'evenings & weekends':
'This album is full of quality pop songs, from beginning to end' - 10/10 Indiepages
'Guitar pop tour de force' - The Irish Times
âA debut album dripping with melody and sunshine' - Pennyblack Music
'Instantly likeable' - RTE.ie Entertainment
'Evenings and Weekends is the perfect choice for anyone seeking a soundtrack for a lazy summer' - Eclectic Honey
'There isn't a weak track here' - Hotpress
'Concise, crisp exciting up there with prime Smiths, Go-Betweens and early REM' - Leagues O' Toole Foggy Notions/Today FM
