ROCK: Classic Rock, ROCK: Acoustic
Details:
Crash Symphony recorded this album as a duo live in front of over 400 people in Sydneyâs most popular live music venue âThe Basementâ. Leading up to this event they had been gigging up to 8 times a week in smaller less popular venues all around the city. Lead singer James Englund had an extensive argument six months before hand with keyboardist/saxophonist Steve Iuliano. They were both frustrated at not being able to gig enough after releasing their first album âMy Girlfriend the Assassinâ (also available). Steve had apparently stated, âStuff it, lets just rock up any where tonight and demand that we play, and if we canât play then weâll just stop right hereâ. The first venue they rocked up at unannounced just had a band cancellation and so Crash Symphony slotted in perfectly and made the place dance. It was such a success they immediately went to a second and did the same thing. Then, on the same night, they progressed to the famous Bondi Hotel. By this stage it was after midnight and still packed. They let the boys play and everyone had such a good time that Crash were invited back countless times and their reputation quickly spread across many of Sydneyâs venues. Many of the people of the six months of gigs building up to this recording came to watch and cheer them on. Crash decided that their now refined duo sound would be more appropriate for the crowd then their full band (where they get session players on stage) and so the recording was a success. It may seem like there is more then two people of stage but James sings whilst playing guitar, kick drum and harmonica around his neck. Steve plays keys whilst singing backing vocals and sometimes holds pads whilst playing saxophone at the same time. They love to play but also perform, always engaging as much of the audience by name as possible. We hope you will enjoy the record as much as Crash Symphony has enjoyed recording it!
