Eric Farmer has played the guitar since age 10 and is primarily self-taught. He is influenced by many great guitarists. His first real influences were Jimi Hendrix, Joe Perry and the guitarists in Southern Rock bands like Lynard Skynard and Blackfoot. Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Alex Lifeson and Al Di Meola were heavy influences in the 80s. While Eric is influenced by all these guitarists, he sounds like none of them.
Eric has played in bands almost continually since age 14. From 1986 1988 he played full time in an East Coast rock band called the Sparkplugs. The Sparkplugs played up and down the East Coast as well as in the Caribbean. After this experience he played part-time for several years in a band called The Ride that played primarily in the Washington DC area.
From 1992 to 1998, Eric played regularly at Daybreak Community Church in Ashburn Virginia. Since 1999, he has played in RiversEdge - a band that has recorded two albums. For the last two years, Eric has been working on a solo album that consists of a mix of instrumental and vocal songs featuring the electric guitar.
