Details:
In rural Minnesota, Cris Kelly spent 18 years in the presence of uncles, aunts, grandparents, parents, cousins, and friends who played music in the evenings and at family gatherings. For a musician, being born into a musical family is like a beet root being planted in dark soil that is rich in nutrients.

Although he got a late start, a volcano of passion was unleashed upon first sitting down to the piano at 16. At age 17 he picked up a guitar and started learning Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, and Guns N' Roses songs. Within a few months, however, he discovered a real musical desire: songwriting.

Since playing in a band of "orchestral folk" during college and a bluegrass band in northern Minnesota, Cris Kelly has completed several solo recordings. Cris performed at the Tumbleweed Folk Festival in Washington and was a finalist in the national songwriting competition at the Minnesota Folk Festival in 2002.
