Aha! I see your wanderings and meanderings have found you here; to TC and Kenâs new CD project on CDBaby! Well done.
Now you want to know a little about whatâs up:
Tom Constanten has been astounding audiences with his musical versatility since the late 1950âs, appearing at such popular venues as The Fillmore Auditorium, Playboy After Dark and the original Woodstock Festival. His music has thrilled listeners worldwide on the stage as well as behindâtheâscenes as composer of original works for film and Theatre productions. As Professor of Music at SUNY Buffalo and the San Francisco Art Institute (1974-1984), budding musicians who studied under his teaching drew on Constantenâs vast musical knowledge and aptitudeâ¦. time & again. He performed as Artist-in-Residence at Harvard University, and consulted for the Smithsonian Institution. A Renaissance Man-in-Black with flowing white hair, purposeful mismatched socks and avant-Garde humor, is fluent in several languages and comfortable with many cultures. He has penned his colorful journey in his memoir, âBetween Rock and Hard Placesâ. I could go onâ¦.
Ken Foust was a founding member of IKO, a regional âDeadâ band in the 1980s. Ken has since moved on to original musical projects, but the influence is there. For example, Ken helped found Hot Wax in 1989, another regionally popular blues/Jamband (see Spreadbase, 10/27/1990). Studying classical piano with TC since the early naughties, the idea of a jam band developed. That band is called âTom Constanten & His Able-Bodied Posseâ. Out of that band arose the âMoved To Stanleyvilleâ project; a collection of original songs written by both TC and Ken w/ a few other choice selections thrown in.
