Since their formation in 2003, The Coggs have redefined the Indie-rock scene here in Ottawa, deriving their inspiration not only from contemporary circles, but also from more traditional sources, including Chicago, New York and Memphis. More than anything, this explosive trio lead by Jeff Coghill on Guitar and Vocals, Travis Hood on Bass and Mike Brittain on Drums are recognized for their dedication to strong musicianship and soulful songwriting. Simple yet penetrating, Coghillâs songs capture the essence of the Rock&Roll tradition, as well as the immediate attention of all listening. On May 27 2006, The Coggs released their much anticipated first full length album entitled "Blackjack and Cigarettes".
