Jodi has been a psychotherapist for 13 years in Dallas Texas. Before she began practicing psychotherapy in 1993, she was an elementary school teacher. As a psychotherapist she has worked extensively with individuals, couples and families. During her work with families and children over the years, Jodi became acutely aware of the lack of tools available to assist adults and children in acquiring the skills needed for adapting to the challenges of divorce, remarriage and the blending of families. To fill this void, she and her partner, MaryAnn, began writing therapeutic stories centered on the issues of divorce, remarriage and step parenting, for adults and children. MaryAnn has been a psychotherapist for 11 years, providing therapy for adolescents and adults as a licensed psychotherapist. Formerly a teacher working with preschool children and high school youth, she chose psychotherapy as a second profession. Step parenting has been a large part of MaryAnn's life for the past 11 years. MaryAnn and her husband Jim married 11 years ago. At that time, he had a 17 year-old daughter and twin boys, 13 years old. She herself had two children, ages 17 and 19. She and her husband Jim have managed to blend their two families successfully. Enjoying family get-togethers is one of their greatest joys and the group has grown quite large: five children, one daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, one fiancé' and at least one significant other at any given time - wow! When they all gather it is a major event! All five children have grown to love and respect each other and seek out each other's company for social reasons as well as support. But it wasn't always a smooth ride! From her own personal experience, as well as extensive training, MaryAnn has developed skills in helping her many therapy patients deal with the intricacies of blending families of many styles into one coherent family unit.
