Details:
A fan at âtheouterpost.comâ described this effort best â good road trip music! Candy Conspiracy was born out of a long, winding road of discovery. Memories of Redlandsâ orange groves, Tucsonâs saguaro covered mountains, and Signal Hillâs views of the Queen Mary permeated the recording sessions at the base of Mount San Jacinto.
The songs were originally conceived as punk-cowpoke-pop blurs of desert scenery. All were fast, furious and loud as heard at Tuscon venues like Club Congress. In time, they became acoustic gems that were served up with the aromatic blends of Itâs A Grind in Long Beach. Today, they land somewhere in the middle. Gone is the furious hyper-drive pace that fueled the fire. Instead, is a sense of place and time that is genuine. Brought to the forefront, is the always honest story of the song.
Jordan Gruener of the Arizona Daily Wildcat once described âWhatchya Gonna Do?â as an âarchetypal rock song.â You decide if it stands up to that moniker. Here are the lyrics, play the song:
We got a one more mile on a road to nowhere
17 seconds âtil weâve got no cares
A few more moments âtil the flash and then
Itâll be over so theyâll start again
Whatchâya gonna do about it
Are you gonna run and hide
Whatchâya gonna do about it
Are you gonna run and hide
That little girl with the tear in her eye
Sheâll never again weep or cry
All because of the bastardâs roar
Wonât no one come âround here no more
Whatchâya gonna do about it
Are you gonna run and hide
Whatchâya gonna do about it
Are you gonna run and hide
Glistening darts from across the sea
Mean eternal peace for you and me
Itâs not to say whoâs right or wrong
Itâs just too bad what theyâve done
Whatchâya gonna do about it
Are you gonna run and hide
Whatchâya gonna do about it
Are you gonna run and hide
Keith Hannaleck, of www.muzikman.com, said (of a previous effort) âScott is able to speak his mind and get across his message with some straight ahead rockin' songs. Elements of alternative, rock and a tad of punk angst for good measure is all part of the mix.â
So start the engine, pop the CD in the player and go on that trip youâve been putting off. A few songs later, youâll be there.
