Category IV the rock band is one of the most melodic, energetic, and talented bands to hit the scene for quite some time. Formed in 2003, the band consists of seasoned veterans of the central Ohio music community. Strong lead vocals and guitar by legendary front man, Donnie Kuhn, an earth shattering rhythm section with Jon Hawks on bass guitar, powerhouse Mike Gibbs on skins and one of the hottest lead guitar slingers anywhere by the name of Jay Ott.
Category IV has what it takes to be a national contender with one of Columbusâ most talented guitarist, a monster entertainer, a rock-solid drummer and a ground-pounding Bassist making this band mentioned by many as being nothing short of âRock and Roll Ear Candyâ. These guys are extremely talented!!!
Category IV signed a recording contract with Spotlight Records on February 12, 2005. Currently their debut CD âThe Stormâ is scheduled for release December 3, 2005. Category IV recorded their CD at a studio located outside Indianapolis, Indiana called Sound Logic as produced by Jeff Anderson. Jeff Anderson has produced over 400 Production Music Tracks appearing in film, radio, TV, and multimedia and over 100 Jingles in the past 10 years. Category IV recorded this CD at Jeff Anderson's private 1600 sq foot studio. Sound Logic houses a vintage Neve 8108 console. One of 6 left in the USA. This console has recorded over 30 number one hits in the past and has a unique warm feel about it.
Category IV has a down-home Rock and Roll flavor with just a sprinkle of heavy metal in just the right places. With tasty originals such as The Past, The Chair, Wherever You Go, Take Your Train, and Stood By You, along with some old covers...they are sure to leave a pleasant and familiar taste in your mouth...always satisfying and sure to bring you back for more.
