Instrumental Progressive Rock with an early-Seventies flair.

12 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Progressive Rock, ROCK: Classic Rock

Details:
Chronicles of Bubbledroid is a collection of instrumental tunes weâve been hashing around for a few years. Weâve tried to capture the sound of the Seventies Prog Rock era by using a mixture of some classic equipment, while using mostly modern instrumentation. For melody and leads, we used a lot of heavy, swirly B3 sounds, and wah-wah electric guitar. For embellishment thereâs a little acoustic guitar, piano, cheap synthesizer, and backwards fuzz guitar. The rhythm section is comprised of electric bass (pick action only, no slapping), bass organ, and bubble drums. And as an added bonus, weâve included some tape hiss at times to âround outâ the sound.

The songs, for the most part, deliver a driving bottom-end crunch, interspersed with some lighter passages and weird bits. Take Arthur Brownâs Kingdom Come (without the vocals), throw in a touch of Gentle Giant, and a dab of Zappa and you get what we were striving for.

Songs like Frog Boy, Broken Mirror with Sand, and Dry Suites 94 integrate dissonant themes, whereas Saturnâs Orbit and Time Sun have a more Hard Rock feel--minus the odd time signatures. Groovey Paste, which is in its own category, sounds a bit like a British 1967 hairspray commercial.

Give it a listen. And keep in mind, the best part of the Polysorbate Masquerade Band is: It's completely instrumental!
