The newest CD from the Chicago Children's Choir, âSita Ram,â features selections from the sold out, Jeff-Award nominated original world musical of the same name. âSita Ramâ is based on the ancient eastern epic âRamayana;â the story and music detail the powerful love that is created when the two elements, Sita, representing beauty and Rama, representing truth come together, and the peace that is possible through love. The Chicago Tribune proclaimed, â. . .The âRamayanaâ really comes to life in a stylistic hybrid thatâs as cheerfully multicultural as it is unafraid of intersecting with rock and show-tune stylings.â

The recording, made possible by a grant from Chase, is the second to be produced by Grammy-nominee John Ovnik, and recorded at Deaf Dog Music in Chicago. Forty members of the highly acclaimed Concert Choir of the Chicago Children's Choir spent a month in the Deaf Dog studio recording the CD. The Choir, under the direction of Artistic Director Josephine Lee, worked with CCC alumns and several highly-acclaimed musicians from around the world to produce this outstanding soundtrack. âThis CD reflects the power of love,â stated Lee, âI hope that the music, the story and the children cultivate the beautiful spirit that is truly in all of us.â

Founded in 1956, the Chicago Children's Choir is a multiracial, multicultural choral music education organization, shaping the future by making a difference in the lives of children and youth through musical excellence. By starting the Chicago Childrenâs Choir, Reverend Christopher Moore showed us that compassion and love are words of action, and that all of us are able to contribute in some way. It is not enough to simply enjoy listening and performing this music - you must be compelled to action. His action has changed the lives of thousands and thousands of young people and is indeed creating a better world.
