Details:
ââ¦a raw energy that shows no signs of slowing down.â - The Toronto Star, 2001
Cum Laude The Anomaly, a.k.a. Jhe Russell is a professional ballet dancer that has performed at many open-mics from the states to Canada to England, as well as an opening for More Or Less, a Toronto MC. He has had his songs played on 88.1 in Toronto and has free-styled on the Circle Research Show. He has performed with Eugene Draw at The Opera House in Toronto, and The Harbor-front Music Festival in 2000.
He performed for Much Music, a Canadian television program with G-Stokes in 1995. Jhe also formed a short-lived group with G-Stokes called âNuff Juice.
Jhe has choreographed using his rapping skills in a workshop with the National Ballet of Canada in 2001. In doing this, he has taken another step closer to bridging the gap between two forms of art that seems so distant, and as The National Post in Toronto put it, ââ¦a welcome change.â
Cum Laude's rhyme style is heavily focused on wordplay and alternative definition. Spitting conscious lyrics with a b-boy attitude, targeting and locking in on the open-minded listener.
