Details:
The Ben-Oni Orchestra is one of the bay areas finest big band jazz orchestras. The director, Dr. Curtis Shaw completed his dissertation, titled Jazz In Sacred Spaces. Dr. Shaw has performed with such jazz greats as Lena Horn in the Lena Horn Show. Additionally, he has performed with Nancy Wilson, Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, Bill Summers and Summers Heat. Dr. Shaw has performed with the Oakland Raider Band, Bubbling Brown Sugar, Ain't Misbehavin, The Kool Jazz Festival, Huebert Laws and The Laws Family, The Black Film Makers Hall of Fame.
This wonderful orchestra has performed throughout the immediate bay area. The Ben-Oni Orchestra has received many invitations to be guest artists at Jack London Square, The Stanford shopping mall, Bayfair shopping mall, The Oakland Museum, Scotts Seafood and Restaurant and a host of additional engagements. The Ben-Oni Orchestra was featured guest at the radio station KPFA, hosted by Mickey Maze. The Ben-Oni Orchestra was invited to KCSM Radio station 91.1, by Clifford Brown, Jr.
The Ben-Oni Orchestra appeared on the weekly television show the Berkeley Gospel. The Ben-Oni Orchestra is dedicated to providing it's listening audience with the finest quality entertainment possible.
