Details:
Christopher Cisper began his career as a singer and frontman for punk and rock bands in the eighties racking up top ten hits at a bay area station he always secretly banged away at nights on his acoustic guitar. He wrote his own melodies and practiced some tricks showed him by a then street musician Michael Hedges. Later he was impressed by the Works of Stanley Jordan and the concept of the Chapman stick.
For the better part of twenty years Christopher Cisper pursued the rock 'n' roll dream. But after dealing with the usual problems decided to move to the backwoods of the north coast and pursue his other love as a ceramicist.
Eight years later after many evenings of woodsheding alone in his cabin, he produced cabin babies to follow up his very popular album Practice. "I finally feel as though I am begining to get the sounds and melodies out of my guitar after twenty-five years" Christopher says somewhat shepishly,"I feel that it is time to share it and see what lies beyond this little cabin."
Christopher plays a very percusive sound at times his guitar sounds like a twelve string and at times like a slide. It is hard sometimes to imagine that each performance is only one guitar and one guitarist with no overdubs. Christophers search for new melodies has lead him to explore the possibilities of alternate tunings, each piece is a small journey of it's own, it inspires introspection and relaxation along with a swaying motion that is often hard sometimes to resist.
Christopher still lives in the Pacific Northwest and teaches children ceramics, and woodsheds every night. He is currently seeking to travel a bit, looking for gigs so he may explore the world a bit.
