At the very heart of City at Peace are ordinary teenagers achieving extraordinary things. These teenagers, working in collaboration with professional artists and musicians, have created over 45 original musicals. Their shows defy description. Inspiring and challenging, they are authentic and powerful statements of real-life conflict, understanding and hope.

This year on one weekend, City at Peace brought together a group of teenagers from City at Peace programs in four different cities - New York, Los Angeles, Charlotte, and Baton Rouge. They gathered together as a national chorus to rehearse and record a compilation of City at Peace songs from past shows. Each song comes from one of the original musicals written and performed by City at Peace teenagers over the last four years. All of the lyrics were written by the youth cast members themselves or come from their writings or ideas.

Edgy, passionate and fresh, this mixture of pop, hip-hop and musical theater will take you into the hearts and minds of today's teenagers. The eclectic mix of styles will surprise you with their insight and unbridled passion.

Like all of the shows that we create, the songs on this CD represent the voices of the thousands of youth who have created City at Peace. They express the serious reality our teenagers face as well as their aspirations for the future. Our aim is to send a much needed statement of hope for our communities and our world.
