The heavy grooves, hook-filled melodies, and powerful vocals in CHUNK'S music are an interesting twist on the traditional hard rock sound, leaping from the realm of Disturbed or Godsmack. Their use of two similar-sounding lead vocalists, combined with a three-piece configuration, creates a unique punch to their sound and adds excitement to their live-show. Lyrics range in topic from the sad state of the earth, to a biting commentary on the ills of the fashion industry. To experience CHUNK is to see them live, with energetic, sincere, and consistent performances from all members. This year the band is busy building up their fan base with upcoming shows, touring, and writing for their next album. The early reports on the albumâs preproduction tapes are outstanding. This band just might be unstoppable.

The trio was brought together for an impromptu session by drummer Troy Rosing in September 1999, who at the time was growing increasingly tired of his ongoing project Centrafuge. After befriending vocalist/guitarist Jay Chamulke, formally of local act Fat Bastard, Rosing asked if he knew of anyone who would be interested in getting together to do some writing. Jay immediately thought of his former band mate, Aaron Langier, from earlier projects (The Same, Mental House) and the first rehearsal was scheduled. CHUNK was thus formed in Edmonton, AB in late October 1999. Things rapidly gelled and songs began to pour out of the trio. The writing soon developed into a full-length release, entitled "Egg in an Ashtray", recorded only 6 months after the official formation of the band.

In the year that followed, CHUNK became one of the hardest working bands on the scene, headlining several shows, packing REDS for their CD release party and landing high profile opening slots for bands such as S.N.F.U., MOIST, THE HEADSTONES, FINGER 11, FLYBANGER, REVEREND HORTON HEAT, and RHYMES WITH ORANGE. CD sales have been strong and the fan base continues to grow immensely with every show, proving that hard rock fans can relate to CHUNK'S high energy, sonically fattening sound and intelligent, insightful, sometimes comical lyrics. The local media has greatly helped the band promote their music in the form of radio play, reviews, and with the release of their video for the single âClearasil,â the trio began to break into new areas nationally and internationally.
