High energy lead song into funky groove instrumentals.
11 MP3 Songs
BLUES: Funky Blues, ROCK: Funk Rock
Details:
I grew up in Narragansett, RI, and have been playing piano for the past 28 years, in various bands, from jazz, blues, and funk to solo for private functions. My formal music study includes Interlochen Arts Academy, New England Conservatory of Music, and Berklee College of Music. While my education has given me a base of theory, my major influences have been from listening to Pink Floyd, early Genesis, Rush, Beastie Boys, Beck, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, just to name a few.
I have been composing my own blend of music for the past six years and have produced twelve cdâs. Whether itâs blues, ambient, rock, or funk, they all contain an underlying element of jazz, which was a major influence. The unrestricting and spontaneous elements of jazz allow me a creative freedom within the bounds of music theory. Like one professor I had once told me, "learn all you can about the technical aspects of music, but when you play, throw it all out the window". So I play by intuition which often extends beyond technique with the fun of playing solos.
I guess my music is a reflection of what I do like, and my state of mind when Iâm composing, which can be romantic, humorous, mellow, driving, and everything in between. Thatâs what makes it fun and interesting to me, and I hope to you as well.
