They've never been confused with the quarterback stud or the homecoming queen. As adults they still don't seem to understand--or care--what "cool" is. So Chess Club just seemed the appropriate name for their band.

Originally started as a whim between two friends after seeing yet another band that clearly had little or no knowledge of their instruments or the craft of song-writing. The two friends shouted, "We can do better than that!" So shortly after that epiphany they started writing music together, however, they soon began to realize that they had something. Not knowing truly what it was they actually "had" they enlisted the help of a couple of friends. That's when things got really interesting.

The band has now evolved into a four-member pop-noir phenomenon. It is a band that is certainly greater than the sum of its parts. Each member has spent considerable time on their respective instruments, an effort that is not lost in the music. Chess Club believes that music should not be aural wallpaper.
