THE CELL was established in 2002 by David Gore (Louisiana, USA)and drummer Milan Milata (Czech Republic) who both had a love for southern rock and blues rock. They wanted to put together a group that created their own style of southern rock and blues, which is largely absent from the Czech Republic. The first three people to be recruited were guitarist Michal Benes, bassist Leos Koudelka and vocalist Veronika Mohaplova. After a few personnel changes, the group now has a total of eight members (three guitarist, bassist, hammond organist, drummer and two background singers). THE CELL plays original compositions inspired by groups like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special and the Jeff Healey Band. Their first demo CD was recorded in 2003, which contained five original songs. In 2004, two additional songs were were added to their list of demo's. In the summer of 2005, their debut CD "Are You Ready" was recorded and then released in March 2006. The Cell gigs around the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Spain playing outdoor festivals, clubs, large/small concert halls and even the occasional "unplugged" concert.
