NEW AGE: Celtic New Age, EASY LISTENING: Soft Rock
Details:
Releasing their first full-length project since March of 2003, Cele De gives you the groundbreaking release "To Find The Missing Part". Featuring ten tracks of brilliant songwriting and undeniable conviction, this landmark album explores the full spectrum of human emotion.
Beginning with "Rune," a Latin-flavored tune evoking memories of Nashville's Jars of Clay, the fun starts and doesn't stop. Next up is a delightful treat entitled "Closer Today." Infused with tight vocal harmonies, this radio-friendly song gives the band a legitimate shot at any AC/CHR radio format. Third, in a refrain Ian Anderson would laud, "Awakening" reminds the listener of the band's Celtic roots, a rare, yet refreshing epiphany in today's culture.
"Song Of The Selkie" is truly a special track. Artistically, emotionally, and even spiritually, this song captives you through layers of cello, guitar, violin and flute. Violinists Amy Kistler and Samuel Davidson are particularly remarkable. In "Vow," imagine John Mayer's "Neon" infiltrated with Latin sentiment. Listen closely near the end; star R&B producer Randy Emata's keen sense of humor unmistakably reveals itself.
The following track, "Introspectrum" serves as a short, meditative segue into an original featuring drummer/vocalist Peter Kistler. Containing poetic verses and a catchy chorus, "Through It All" exhibits the group's lyrical and vocal prowess. Never failing to impress or surprise, the album now takes an acoustic turn. Dedicated to their musical parents, "Second Hand" is a tribute song featuring Olivia and Robby Valderrama on flute and guitar, respectively. Jazz roots, improvisational skills, and innovative guitar chords permeate this memorable song.
Just when you thought the fun was over, along comes "Guantera." Opening with what feels like a speed metal riff, the violin carries the tune to its bridge. At this point, pleasant jazz piano emerges and eventually gives way to a dynamic ending reminiscent of a Rush concert. Finishing a truly thoughtful album, the closing track, "Coming Home" features the guys of the group; Peter, Robby and Samuel. Quite simply, it is an emotional thriller, and the perfect ending to a perfect album.
